Sustainable vineyards, now and in the future:

Our work in vineyards encompasses three interrelated research areas:
  • Conservation of biodiversity in vineyards: Athanasia Mandoulaki, a PhD candidate in our Group, assesses the impact of landscape and management practices on vineyard biodiversity. The work is in collaboration with our colleague, Dr. Ioannis Vogiatzakis of the TEM lab.
  • Application of novel spraying methods in vineyards: Costas Michael, a PhD candidate in our Group, works on developing novel spray application techniques in vineyards.
  • Climate change mitigation: We work on identifying the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions from vineyards and wineries and proposing technologies and management changes to reduce emissions. See here for a recent publication.
